December 31, 2001 - A couple of people have emailed this link to a "message from Richard Ashcroft". It's a big flash movie and the message pretty much says that Richard's working on his second record and he wishes us all happy holidays.
December 25, 2001 - Those real audio links in the media page should work now. They've been broken for a while now. And I'll get those streaming MP3 links working soon too, actually I'm going to get all the tracks on streaming MP3 because the RealAudio stuff sounds really crappy. :)
December 20, 2001 - Don't you remember the days when there was at least one update everyday? Maybe those days will come back now that Simon Jones and Simon Tong are in a new band. They are currently an 'unnamed band' and I don't know any other details other then that Simon Jones and Simon Tong are in the band. You can hear a track from them by going to http://www.zumarecordings.com/intranet3689_97zu.html, then logging in with a username (zuma88) and a password (fch58357). After you log in, click on the "read message..." link, then you'll have two optiosn of downloading the 7MB MP3 or listening to a streaming version. I suggest the download becasue the streaming version is really crappy quality. Oh, fuck it. Here's a direct link to the MP3, I don't know why they want everyone to jump through all the hoops just to get the track: http://www.zumarecordings.com/track1.zip.
The song is pretty damn good. I don't know who sings it but it's not half bad. You can't really compare it to Verve but if I *had* to I would say that this song could fit on the Northern Soul record.
In Other News: The Chemical Brothers album (with the Richard Ashcroft track) will be out at the end of January. The Richard Ashcroft track is called "The Test" and it's not the best Chemical Brothers track. It's just shy of eight minutes and it's a little dull, Richard's voice sounds pretty good though. If you haven't gotten the UNKLE record yet, I suggest picking that one up because his track on there is much better.
CDNOW has the Neotropic album with Nick McCabe online. It's pretty cool because it's a 2CD set, one CD has the soundtrack of the "Prochaine Fois" film, and the second disc is the film.
July 5, 2001 - There hasn't been much going on lately and I can't believe I haven't been ehre since March! Anyway, Richard is going to be on the next Chemical Brothers album according to NME.
March 6, 2001 - Patrick sent in a another link for the Neotropic project. Apparently there's gonna be a screening of the film in England on Tuesday, March 13th.
March 5, 2001 - Ezra found a better link for Neotropic/Riz Malsen, http://www.squidattack.com/rizmaslen/. If you click on the "cover art" link you can barely make out Nick McCabe's name in the credits. "La Prochaine Fois" is a film and the album coming out in April is going to be the score. I'm not sure how long the film is, but there's about 40 minutes of real video on the site. Very interesting stuff...
March 4, 2001 - Nick McCabe contributed some music for the next Neotropic album which is due out in April and is titled, "La Prochaine Fois". His stuff is on four or five tracks and Riz Maslen (Neotropic is a solo artist, read more in the links...) describes the record as an "ambient roadmovie". Here's a couple links for you:

See, I sent the interview away to Nick. I can't FORCE him to send it back and I'm not going to post it until he gives me the okay. I don't see why everyone's all pissed off at me? I guess I shouldn't have said anything until it was ready to go online, but c'mon how long can I not metion that I talked to Nick McCabe? I want to tell you that everything's going to be okay and I'll have the interview online tomorrow, but that's just not the case. It's totally out of my hands.
